This talk is a celebration of the lives of the Plant Hunters by Doug Stewart . Plant hunters for the love of rare and unusual plants, went out all over the world, braving hardship, evil warlords and cannibals to bring us so many of the interesting and unusual plants we enjoy today. As one of Doug’s horticultural heroes says: “people have no idea what goes into that tiny packet of seeds.!”
This talk tells the Plant Hunters’ amazing and inspirational story.
Plants have always been a huge part of Doung’s life. At 13 he rented an allotment and was soon earning a little pocket the local shop with veg! He trained as a professional horticulturist and has worked as a lecturer in cucumber and tomato production, pumpkin grower, plant propagator, interior landscaper and garden designer. He was Head of Horticulture at a leading land-based college for over 20 years and now works as a horticultural business consultant, speaker and trainer. He also co-presents the popular Great Outdoors gardening programme on Radio Humberside. Doug comes to us highly recommended by numerous gardening clubs where he has talked. A not to be missed event.
As ever please invite and bring along any of your friends and neighbours as guests or possible new members, they’ll all be very welcome
