We are delighted to have been able to take another step to reduce the Village Hall’s carbon footprint thanks to a generous grant from Ryedale District Council’s community grant scheme (now subsumed into the North Yorkshire Council). All the existing lighting in the Hall has been replaced by low energy LED lighting. In the main hall the lighting is now dimmable. In all the other rooms, the existing lighting has been replaced by low energy LED lights. The installation was carried out by local electricians Simpson and Wood.

It has been estimated that the new lighting will reduce our electricity costs by as much as 60%. Together with the solar panels and battery recently installed the Village Hall is taking a community lead in reducing carbon emissions.
