Over the past couple of years as a result of a number of grant applications to funders we have been able to;
- Install solar panels and a battery array system to reduce our electricity costs. A grant for this work was from Centrica’s funding programme Energy for Tomorrow towards decarbonising community buildings. In addition a small grant was awarded from the old Ryedale District Council’s Locality Budget
- Change all the Hall’s lights to low voltage LEDs reducing the Hall’s electricity lighting costs by 90%. This work was partially funded by a grant from the old Ryedale District Council’s Community Energy Grant scheme
- Insulate the Main Hall and Committee Room by putting additional insulation in the roof space, cladding all the inner walls with Superfoil insulation and skimming with plaster. This work was funded by a grant from North Yorkshire Council’s Shared Prosperity Fund
- Decorate the Main Hall and Committee Room. The decoration works were paid for from the Village Hall’s reserve
The next phase of the Hall’s redevelopment will be the installation of audiovisual and hearing loop systems funded by a National Lottery grant as well as installing additional batteries for the solar panels funded by the Northern Powergrid Foundation.
